A couple of nights ago, Spain defeated Germany in their World Cup match. The normally crowded and noisy streets of the Parte Vieja of Donostia were empty and silent. Silent except for the sudden explosions of wild cheering by patrons crowding every one (and there are many) of the town´s restaurants and bars during high points of the game. Things look good for Spain at this point and there are even some predicting the Spanish will win this year´s cup. ¿Quien sabe?
There´s a ¨psychic¨squid in a tank in Germany that so far has accurately predicted every winner for every match in the World Cup. He´s now chosen Spain over Holland. (Why do I know these things?) Maybe, if Spain wins, he´ll be rewarded by being set free.
